Nigerian Afrobeats singer Siraheem announces exit from music industry

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Raheem Okoya, known as Siraheem and son of billionaire industrialist Rasaq Okoya, has announced he is stepping away from the music industry. He shared the decision on his official Instagram page on Wednesday, citing the growing challenge of balancing his music career with other responsibilities.

My career began simply, music was a hobby I made with my boys as a means of bonding and connection before it was anything else.

Siraheem reflected on his journey, stating that music began as a hobby shared with friends before evolving into a serious pursuit. He acknowledged the memorable experiences his career provided, including performing at major shows and gaining recognition from admired artists. However, he explained that over the past year, sustaining his music alongside other commitments became increasingly difficult.

Over the past year, holding that alongside my other commitments has grown harder. I’ve always believed in giving everything my best and I no longer feel I can give this craft the effort, patience, and dedication it truly deserves.

While the "Siraheem music era" is closing, the artist emphasized that his creative drive remains. He plans to diversify into other fields and explore new ventures, though he did not rule out a future return to music, particularly with material he has already recorded. "Music still remains therapeutic for me," he said, hinting that an album might eventually be released.
