Nigerian Air Force opens 2026 recruitment for tradesmen and non-tradesmen

The Nigerian Air Force has opened recruitment for its 2026 Basic Military Training Course, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply as tradesmen, women, non-tradesmen or non-tradeswomen.

Online registration for BMTC 47/2026 will run from September 3 through October 14, 2026. The Air Force said the application is free and advised prospective recruits to review the eligibility rules and application guidance before applying through its recruitment portal.

Tradesmen and women must be 18 to 27 years old by March 1, 2027. Non-tradesmen and women must be 18 to 22 by that date. All applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, medically, physically and psychologically fit, and at least 1.66 meters tall for males or 1.63 meters for females.

Applicants in the trades category with ND or NCE qualifications must hold certificates from accredited institutions and have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in no more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS examinations. Applicants for driving and other trades requiring a Trade Test must provide the relevant certificate, while drivers must also hold a valid license.

Non-trades applicants need at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, as well as primary school certificates and secondary school testimonials. Successful applicants must complete acknowledgement, parent or guardian consent, and Local Government Area attestation forms. The attestation can come from an appropriately ranked military or police officer, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.
