Nigerian Army Seizes Large Drug Haul on Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road

Troops from the Nigerian Army's 65 Battalion have successfully intercepted a significant consignment of illicit drugs along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road. The operation, executed on July 9, 2026, was prompted by actionable intelligence from a reliable source.

The Army said the suspect and the recovered illicit drugs were subsequently handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Lagos State Command, for further investigation and prosecution, in line with established procedures.

During the intelligence-led operation, the troops seized a truck laden with the illegal substances and apprehended its driver. Preliminary investigations indicated that the drugs were destined for the Berger area of Lagos State. However, the suspect failed to provide adequate information regarding the ownership of the consignment or its intended recipient.

Following the interception, the suspect and the recovered illicit drugs were promptly handed over to the Lagos State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). This handover facilitates further investigation and subsequent prosecution in accordance with established legal procedures.
