Nigerian Bar Association forms 40-member committee for 2026 conference

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has established a 40-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) to spearhead preparations for its 2026 Annual General Conference. This significant gathering of legal professionals is slated to be held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from August 21 to 28, 2026.

The conference, bearing the theme "Beyond Limits," aims to convene lawyers and other stakeholders within the legal profession. Discussions will focus on critical issues impacting the profession and the nation. The event is particularly noteworthy as it will coincide with the inauguration of the NBA's next president, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, and other newly elected national officers.

Appointed by NBA President Afam Osigwe, SAN, the LOC will work in tandem with the Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC). Their responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of the conference, from venue management and accommodation to transportation and security. Tonye Krukrubo, SAN, will chair the LOC, with Damian Okoro, SAN, serving as alternate chairman, and Chioma Ogoegbu as secretary.

The NBA expressed gratitude to the committee members for accepting their roles, urging them to contribute to the conference's success and the overall development of the Bar. The formation of the LOC marks a key milestone in the organizational process for the NBA's 66th Annual General Conference.
