Nigerians seeking credible alternative, ADC must not fail them — David Mark

Ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections, many citizens are actively searching for a credible political alternative, according to David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Speaking at the party's National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, Mark urged ADC members not to disappoint this growing segment of the electorate.

Many citizens are increasingly searching for a credible political platform. The ADC must not fail them.

He stressed that the party must establish itself as a viable platform capable of tackling Nigeria's pressing security and economic issues. Mark highlighted the pervasive insecurity that continues to threaten lives and livelihoods, displacing communities and hindering agricultural activities. He also pointed to the severe economic hardships, including rising living costs, unemployment, and declining purchasing power, which demand urgent and sincere attention from those in governance.

Insecurity continues to threaten lives and livelihoods across many parts of our country. Communities are displaced, farmers are unable to cultivate their lands freely, businesses struggle under difficult economic conditions, and millions of families face hardship and uncertainty.

Despite the challenges facing the nation, Mark stated that the ADC, as a responsible opposition party, does not seek political advantage from the public's suffering. Instead, the party supports sincere efforts to restore peace, security, economic stability, and national cohesion. He called on governments at all levels to intensify their efforts in combating insecurity and improving citizens' welfare.

Rising cost of living, unemployment, declining purchasing power and social discontent demand urgent and sincere attention from those entrusted with governance.

Mark also underscored the importance of internal unity within the ADC, asserting that the party's success hinges on its ability to manage disagreements and prioritize collective interests over personal ambitions. He acknowledged complaints stemming from recent party primaries and assured members that leadership would address all grievances in accordance with the party's constitution, emphasizing dialogue and mutual respect.

As a responsible opposition party, the ADC does not celebrate the difficulties confronting our nation, nor do we seek political advantage from the pain of our people.
