NIJ Alumni Association pledges to help develop institution

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism Alumni Association has pledged to work more closely with the institute’s board and management to support its development.

The association paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, led by its newly elected president, Olumuyiwa Akintunde. He formally introduced the new executive committee to the institute’s management and council.

Akintunde said the association was ready to identify areas of mutual interest and contribute to the institution’s continued growth. He said alumni had an important role in the development and sustainability of their alma mater, and that NIJAA would draw on members’ experience, expertise, networks and goodwill.

The visit also allowed the new leadership to present its vision and priorities and discuss possible joint initiatives. The institute’s management welcomed the delegation and recognized the contribution alumni can make to institutional development and stronger ties with former students.

Both sides expressed a commitment to building a stronger and more productive relationship for the benefit of the institute, its students, alumni and the wider media industry.
