NiMet predicts three-day sunshine, cloudiness nationwide

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecasts a mixed weather pattern for the country over the weekend, with predictions of sunshine and cloudiness from Saturday to Monday. Residents can expect varied conditions across different regions.

By the afternoon and evening hours, thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over parts of Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Adamawa and Taraba States.

On Saturday, sunny skies with scattered clouds are anticipated over the northern part of the country. However, the morning hours may bring thunderstorms and moderate rains to parts of Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna states. As the day progresses into the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are expected in several northern states, including Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba.

The North Central region is also set to experience thunderstorms and moderate rains on Saturday, particularly in the morning hours over Plateau, Niger, and Nasarawa states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory. By afternoon and evening, these conditions are expected to extend to parts of Kogi and Benue states.

For the southern region, the forecast indicates moderate rains during the morning hours over coastal states like Ondo, Ogun, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos, and Bayelsa. The agency anticipates moderate rains across the entire southern region later in the day. Similar patterns of thunderstorms and moderate rains are predicted for Sunday and Monday across various parts of the country, with specific areas in the north, north-central, and southern regions expected to be affected.
