Nina Returns From Her Honeymoon: “That’s When You Realize How Much Croatians Lack a Culture of Active Living”

Nina Martina Korbar and Mario Mandić returned from a honeymoon in Vietnam and Thailand with memories of coconut-forest boat rides and a striking impression of local daily life.

The couple first met on the television show “Život na vagi,” where both had enrolled to change their habits and lose excess weight. Their friendship later developed into a relationship, culminating in their wedding in May. Friends’ positive experiences helped them choose Vietnam and Thailand for their honeymoon.

Korbar said the couple was especially taken by the attitude toward physical activity. “We were especially won over by people’s mentality when it comes to activity. From four or five in the morning, people are running, playing volleyball, swimming, exercising and walking a lot,” she told Net.hr. “There you realize how much we Croatians lack a culture of active living.”

She said the atmosphere itself encouraged them to move more. The couple enjoys researching destinations online, exchanging suggestions and planning trips together, but they also prefer to improvise rather than follow a strict schedule. Korbar said Mario adapts more easily than she does.

The trip also gave her an opportunity to reflect on their marriage. “Marriage means a lot to us. We do not see it merely as a piece of paper, it is much more than that for us,” she said. “We are happy, and things have not changed too much. We get along and function as we did before marriage, but now on a higher level. We believe a shared future lies ahead, in which we will grow and create together.”
