Nine drivers still in hunt for Formula E title ahead of London finale

The Formula E championship is heading for a nail-biting conclusion in London, with nine drivers mathematically still in contention for the title. The upcoming weekend features the final two races of the season before the all-electric series transitions to its new Gen4 era.

Britain's Jake Dennis of the Andretti team currently leads the standings with 146 points, holding a slim two-point advantage over Jaguar's Mitch Evans. For Evans, these races represent his last with the Jaguar team after a decade, as he aims to become New Zealand's first electric champion before a potential move to Opel.

Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein, the reigning 2023-24 champion, sits third, three points behind Evans. Other contenders include reigning champion Oliver Rowland, currently fourth, and Mahindra's Edoardo Mortara in fifth. Jaguar and Porsche are also battling for the teams' championship, separated by 14 points.

This event also serves as a farewell to the ExCel London venue, which has hosted the British ePrix since its inception. Next year's British round will move to Brands Hatch, coinciding with the introduction of the lighter and faster Gen4 car. Brazilian driver Lucas di Grassi, a Formula E pioneer and former champion, will be making his final professional racing appearance after a career spanning 30 years, including a season in Formula One.
