Nine FETÖ Suspects, Two Children and Captain Caught Trying to Flee Abroad on Peter Pan

A Russian-flagged boat named Peter Pan was stopped near Datça as nine FETÖ suspects allegedly prepared to flee abroad, according to the Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspects had already faced proceedings for alleged membership in the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization, or FETÖ, and their cases were at the regional appeal stage. Authorities determined that they were aboard the boat in an area close to international waters, prompting the Coast Guard Command to intervene.

The operation resulted in the detention of the nine suspects, two children and the boat’s captain. The suspects now face separate judicial action over the allegation that they attempted to leave the country through illegal means.

The captain was also placed under investigation for aiding a terrorist organization and migrant smuggling. The two children were handed over to family members.
