Nine injured in shooting near England’s World Cup base in Kansas City, say reports

Nine individuals sustained injuries in a shooting that occurred near England's World Cup base in Kansas City, Missouri, reports indicate. The incident took place around 4 a.m. local time on Saturday, with police responding to calls about shots fired on Troost Avenue.

According to The Athletic, officers arrived at the scene to find a large crowd dispersing. Three adult females were transported to local hospitals. Later reports confirmed that a total of nine adults sought medical attention at various hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. As of Saturday, no suspects were in custody, and police continued to patrol the area.

The England team was not present at their nearby hotel when the shooting occurred. They were in Florida at the time, preparing for a friendly match against New Zealand. The team is scheduled to arrive at their Kansas City base on Saturday, after playing their final warm-up game against Costa Rica in Orlando on Wednesday.

The Football Association declined to comment when contacted by the Press Association. Both Argentina and the Netherlands are also expected to be based in Kansas City during the tournament.
