Nine parliamentary committees to meet today

Federal Parliament committees in Nepal are set to convene on Thursday, with nine bodies scheduled to hold meetings. The House of Representatives will convene on August 24, and the National Assembly on Friday, allowing for these committee sessions.

The Finance Committee will focus on clause-by-clause deliberations of the bill to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002. The finance minister and secretary are expected to attend. Simultaneously, the International Relations and Tourism Committee will discuss the Tourism Bill, 2024, engaging with stakeholders like the Hotel Association Nepal.

Other committees will address diverse issues. The Industry and Commerce, Labour and Consumer Interest Committee will review submitted complaints. The Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee will examine organic fertilizer production and the reduction of chemical fertilizer use. The Infrastructure Development Committee plans to discuss the Bagmati Beautification Project.

Furthermore, the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will meet with officials from the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority. The Education, Health and Information Technology Committee will deliberate on the National Forensic Science Laboratory Bill, 2024. The Public Accounts Committee will scrutinize the auditing of foreign aid. Finally, the Legislative Management Committee will discuss legislative interrelationships with the National Association of Rural Municipalities.
