Nine Quebecers share $25 million Lotto Max jackpot winnings

A group of nine Quebecers has become the latest multimillionaires after hitting the $25 million Lotto Max jackpot in the draw held on July 10. The winning ticket was purchased in the form of 10 "Formule groupe" shares.

Eight of the lucky winners hail from the city of Laval, while the ninth winner comes from the Laurentides region. Each of the nine individuals will receive an equal share of the prize money, amounting to $2.5 million per person.

However, one of the winners, Thierno M. Sadigou Diallo, who purchased two shares instead of one, will receive a larger portion of the winnings. He is set to receive $5 million, bringing the total payout to the nine individuals to $25 million.

Diallo expressed his astonishment at the win, stating, “I thought it was amazing when I saw all those zeros!” Another group member, Élie Sawan, shared his happiness in winning as part of a collective, saying, “I like people, and I like it when they’re happy. I don’t want to be happy by myself.” The convenience store that sold the winning ticket will receive a $250,000 commission from Loto-Québec.
