Nis Faculty of Philosophy Faces Funding Crisis Amidst Student Protests

Employees at the University of Nis's Faculty of Philosophy are expressing deep concern over the pending approval of operational funds, a delay that threatens the institution's regular financing and the payment of salaries.

Without these appropriations, the faculty cannot access funds already allocated in the state budget. Employees are particularly worried about salary payments due in August for the month of July. Unlike other faculties, which reportedly have their appropriations approved for the next three months, the Faculty of Philosophy faces uncertainty, prompting questions about the reasons for this selective withholding of funds.

Students protesting at the university have pointed out that the Faculty of Philosophy has been embroiled in political and institutional disputes for months. They argue that the denial of these funds intensifies the pressure. The students emphasized that higher education must remain free from political pressure and financial penalties, asserting that the state is obligated to ensure all higher education institutions operate smoothly and equally, without selective denial of funds or rights for students and employees.
