Niš Film Festival’s third night brings popular films and stars to the red carpet

Hundreds of people in Niš gathered for the third evening of the city’s film festival, where popular titles shared the program with a red-carpet appearance by well-known Serbian actors.

Mirjana Karanović, Vučić Perović, Milutin Mima Karadžić, Nela Mihailović, Zinaida Dedakin, Iva Ilinčić, Igor Benčina and Svetozar Cvetković appeared before local residents and numerous media representatives.

The daytime program included “Ace in the Frame,” a documentary about actor Svetozar Cvetković directed by Ana Marija Rosi. It was followed by “Mother Mara,” directed by and starring Mirjana Karanović. The film follows Mara after the death of her only son, as a relationship with a younger man becomes part of her effort to confront grief and continue her life.

The evening program presented Milan Karadžić’s “Sports Heart,” starring Milutin Mima Karadžić, Nela Mihailović, Nina Nešković and Nikola Šurbanović. The comedy centers on Maja’s attempt to introduce her fiancé, Pavle, a polished Belgrade man, to her father Macura, a charismatic bakery owner from Zemun. Their meeting brings generational divisions and deeply rooted prejudices to the surface.

The festival’s third night closed with Marko Backović’s “Isolation,” starring Miloš Biković. The film follows Jovan, a young biologist who takes a well-paid job in a forest and begins noticing an unknown man in surveillance-camera footage. Night calls, strange sounds and complete isolation draw him further into the situation.
