NIS Launches Gas Power Plants in Banatsko Miloševo and Srpska Crnja for Trial Operation

Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) has put two new small gas power plants into trial operation in Banatsko Miloševo and Srpska Crnja. These facilities will generate electricity by activating previously unused gas resources, marking a significant step in optimizing domestic energy potential.

The investment in these two plants totals around 2 billion dinars, with a combined installed capacity of five megawatts. The Banatsko Miloševo plant is expected to produce 21 GWh of electricity annually, while the Srpska Crnja plant will generate 19.5 GWh. Together, their output is sufficient to supply electricity to nearly 8,000 average households.

NIS highlighted that these investments not only increase electricity production from underutilized gas but also contribute to environmental protection by reducing harmful emissions and enhancing energy efficiency. The generated electricity can be supplied to external consumers or used within NIS's own operations. Grigorije Tešanović, NIS's project management manager, stated that the new plants underscore the company's commitment to rational use of domestic energy resources and modernizing energy infrastructure.

This project is part of NIS's long-term strategy, initiated in 2013, focusing on the company's energy transition, improving business efficiency through resource optimization, and enhancing environmental protection. To date, NIS has commissioned 22 generation/cogeneration modules across Serbia, with investments exceeding 28 million euros in this sector.
