No Brain’s Lee Sung-woo Thanks BTS’s RM and Invites Him to Collaborate for the Band’s 30th Anniversary

Lee Sung-woo initially thought a fan’s message about BTS’s RM recommending No Brain in an overseas interview could not be true. Then he watched the video and found RM speaking about the band himself.

Lee and fellow No Brain member Hwang Hyun-sung appeared on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” where they discussed the recommendation and the band’s 30th anniversary. The appearance also reunited Lee with host Yoo Jae-suk, whom he had last shared a television program with about 17 years ago.

A BTS fan sent me a message saying, ‘RM mentioned you, and I think this is really amazing.’ At first I thought, ‘No way,’ and watched the video.

RM had been asked to name a Korean artist with a raw, strong energy and chose No Brain. Lee said he was especially pleased that RM went beyond mentioning the band’s name and explained the feeling associated with it. Hwang added that RM’s stylish pronunciation of the name gave the group a sense of pride.

We’re happy just to be mentioned, but RM said, ‘You can get a feeling from the name No Brain itself, right?’ I was so pleased. I thought, ‘He understands music.’

Lee then looked into the camera and addressed RM directly: “Thank you. It’s our 30th anniversary. RM, shall we create some art together? Let’s create some art together. Please contact us.”

Formed in 1996, No Brain has spent decades performing as a rock band and released songs including “You Fell for Me” and “Youth 98.” RM’s recommendation has now sparked interest in whether the two artists will turn the public invitation into an actual collaboration.
