‘No credible threat’ — Police dismiss school attack fears in Lagos

Lagos State Police Command has allayed fears circulating about a potential bandit attack and abduction of schoolchildren, assuring the public that no credible intelligence supports such a threat. The command acknowledged awareness of a circulating threat notice but urged parents, guardians, and residents to remain calm.

Superintendent of Police Abimbola Adebisi stated that there is currently no verified intelligence indicating an imminent attack within the state. Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai has ordered an immediate assessment and enhanced security deployment across schools and other critical locations. Operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, are actively safeguarding schools, infrastructure, and communities.

There is presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State. While every security concern is treated seriously, members of the public are advised to remain calm and avoid panic.

The Command reaffirmed that Lagos remains secure and proactive measures are in place to prevent any breach of public safety. They issued a stern warning against any attempts by criminal elements to cause fear or destabilize public peace, vowing decisive action against offenders. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police through provided emergency lines.
