No crown for Ignacia Fernández, who fails to advance at Miss World

Ignacia Fernández’s run at Miss World ended before the top 40, despite the attention she attracted through her artistic background as the singer of a metal band.

The 27-year-old Chilean had appeared the previous day as Carmela, a character from “La pérgola de las flores,” during the World Dance stage of the competition in Vietnam. She is also the vocalist of the band Decessus.

I am deeply moved and grateful for everything I experienced during this journey. Thank you to my fellow contestants for every moment we shared, to the organization for making this experience possible, to Vietnam for welcoming me with such warmth and, above all, to my beloved Chile.

After leaving the contest, Fernández wrote that she felt “deeply moved and grateful” for everything she had experienced. She thanked her fellow contestants and the organization, as well as Vietnam for welcoming her warmly, and expressed particular gratitude to Chile.

“Thank you for accompanying me at every step, for every message, for the affection and for never leaving me alone,” she added. “Feeling my country behind me has undoubtedly been one of the most beautiful parts of this journey.”
