No Miracle This Time: PSG Lose to Monaco in Ligue 1

The fireworks were meant to celebrate Paris Saint-Germain's recent European Super Cup victory, five summer signings and Luis Enrique's contract extension through 2030. Instead, Monaco ended the party with a 2-1 victory at the Parc des Princes.

The result extended Monaco's perfect start to the season and marked its third consecutive Ligue 1 win over PSG, after victories in both meetings last season. Paris, meanwhile, had drawn its first two matches and now has just two points from three games.

PSG controlled the opening stages and created a triple chance in the 12th minute, but Monaco goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky denied Désiré Doué before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia shot over. Paris continued to press, and Marquinhos opened the scoring in the 31st minute after Kvaratskhelia found him unmarked.

Paris dominated the first half without producing a decisive second goal. Monaco struggled to create opportunities, while PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov dealt with the visitors' limited attacks. The hosts came close to extending their advantage after the break, with Maghnes Akliouche hitting the crossbar and Hradecky stopping a back-heel attempt.

Monaco then equalized in the 59th minute when Jordan Teze found Nazinho. PSG continued to attack, but the early celebration at the Parc des Princes had turned into a disappointing league opener at home. Monaco left Paris with all three points and the early lead in the standings.
