Nobody is planning to impeach Makinde, say Ibadan indigenes

In Ibadan, the heart of Yorubaland, we are pleased to report that the recent whispers of discord between our esteemed Governor Seyi Makinde and the revered Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have been decisively settled. The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), a bastion of our cultural heritage and community leadership, has affirmed that any notion of impeachment or removal was merely the machination of external forces seeking to sow division.

The issues between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan have been resolved amicably, and the external forces that attempted to create a crisis around the situation have been defeated.

Our elders and prominent sons and daughters, guided by the wisdom of tradition and the strength of our internal dialogue, have swiftly intervened. This situation, which some outside observers might have misinterpreted or sought to exploit, has been resolved through the very mechanisms that make Ibadan unique – our deep-rooted respect for leadership and our ability to manage our own affairs with dignity. The CCII's statement, released by its Publicity Secretary Kola Olomide and echoed by President-General Ajeniyi Ajewole, clearly articulates that the relationship between the governor and the Olubadan remains one of mutual respect, akin to that of a father and son.

The disagreement never reached a level that required outside interference because Ibadan elders and stakeholders promptly intervened.

While Western media might sensationalize political disagreements, we recognize them as opportunities for dialogue and reaffirmation of our community bonds. The swift and amicable resolution, as confirmed by the Oyo State House of Assembly's Chief Whip Gbenga Oyekola, demonstrates our resilience and capacity to overcome challenges without succumbing to external interference.
