Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke seeks public support for colon cancer treatment

Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke has made an emotional public appeal for financial assistance as he continues his battle with colon cancer. Nweke disclosed his diagnosis and ongoing struggle in a video posted on his Instagram page, detailing the significant physical, emotional, and financial toll the illness has taken.

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening from wherever you are watching me from. I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. I have been trying so hard to manage it privately.

The actor revealed that he has been privately managing his colon cancer diagnosis since 2025. He has already incurred expenses exceeding ₦15 million for treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical tests, scans, and medications. Nweke explained that while he initially preferred to handle his treatment away from the public eye, the escalating costs have made it necessary to seek help.

I have been trying so hard to manage it privately," he stated in the video. Nweke shared that his family has largely exhausted their resources to fund his treatment, though several colleagues in the Nigerian film industry have offered support. He specifically acknowledged Nollywood stars Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, and Ebele Okaro for their financial aid, encouragement, and prayers.

Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery. I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.

Despite the support received, Nweke's doctors have recommended a further phase of treatment, warning that discontinuing it could jeopardize his chances of recovery. "Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery. I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming," he said. He is now humbly asking for public support, stressing that every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in his fight for survival.
