Nollywood actress Regina Daniels opts out of marriage, seeks daughter

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has declared she is no longer interested in marriage after separating from her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko. However, the mother of two remains determined to expand her family, specifically stating her desire to have a daughter, as she feels motherhood is incomplete without one.

During a livestream with TikToker Jarvis, Daniels shared that her perspective on marriage has evolved, even as she focuses on having more children. "But for some reason, I’ve checked my mind out of getting married. I’m yet to have a girl. And I must have a girl," she stated.

Daniels elaborated on the distinct emotional connection she believes mothers share with their daughters. "I feel like motherhood starts better. Like you would understand motherhood when you have a girl child," she explained. She contrasted this with raising sons, whom she feels can be groomed to emulate a father figure. For a daughter, however, the mother must serve as the primary role model.

Reflecting on her own journey, Daniels admitted that after having her first son, she was adamant about not having a girl. Yet, after her second son, her feelings shifted. She noted that female children often maintain a stronger connection to their mothers. Daniels also touched upon gender roles, suggesting that while men tend to focus on building families after marriage, women often remain more emotionally tied to their homes.

So, having boys is easy because at least you can groom them to have a role model in a father figure. But for your girl child, you have to be that role model for them to emulate.

Daniels and Nwoko married in 2019, a union that drew significant public attention due to their 40-year age gap. They have two sons together. Their marriage reportedly became strained in 2025 amid allegations of substance abuse by Nwoko, which Daniels denied, accusing him of manipulation and abuse. She has since left the marriage and is currently living separately, asserting her single status.
