Nollywood star Ricardo Agbor recounts 18-year wait for twins, mother's deathbed experience

Veteran Nollywood actor Ricardo Agbor has opened up about the profound journey to parenthood, revealing that he and his wife waited 18 years before welcoming their twins. In an interview with AfricanAList, Agbor reflected on his marriage, faith, and the significant challenges they faced before becoming parents.

It took 18 years for me to have the twins. And I waited. God knows, 18 years and they are 14 now, so I told God I wanted twins.

Despite the extended wait, Agbor remained steadfastly committed to his wife, emphasizing that their union was built on love and mutual respect, transcending tribal differences. He specifically prayed for twins, refusing to relinquish hope even after nearly two decades. "God knows, 18 years and they are 14 now, so I told God I wanted twins," he shared, expressing his gratitude for having a boy and a girl.

Agbor also described the death of his mother as the most painful experience of his life. After weeks of unsuccessful treatment, doctors recommended transferring her to South Africa. However, his mother requested to be moved to a private hospital within Surulere. It was while Agbor was assisting her into the car at the hospital that she passed away in his arms.

The actor confessed that the loss left him devastated, marking the first time he had cried outside of an acting role. "I think that was the first time I cried in my life. I don’t cry. If I cry, maybe it is in a movie and it is a role. So I cried. It was painful," he recounted, highlighting the deep emotional impact of losing his mother.
