Nomad Games: Almaz Dzhunusov wins traditional archery title

Almaz Dzhunusov achieved a double victory for Kyrgyzstan at the sixth World Nomad Games, taking first place in traditional archery under both Kyrgyz and Turkish rules.

The Kyrgyz-rules competition drew 211 athletes from 51 countries. Dzhunusov won the men’s title, while fellow Kyrgyz competitor Nursultan Emilbek uulu finished second. Hungary’s Laszlo Kocka took the bronze medal.

Kazakhstan dominated the women’s Kyrgyz-rules podium, with Asemgul Galymzhanova winning gold and Aikorkem Batikhkan taking silver. Russia’s Klara Spiridonova won bronze.

Dzhunusov then finished first again in the Turkish-rules event. Mongolia’s Ganzorig Bat-Erdene placed second, followed by Kazakhstan’s Ali Sessiguzel. Kazakhstan’s Ayash Kabdollayeva won the women’s competition, ahead of Kyrgyzstan’s Asel Sadyrova and Russia’s Spiridonova. The winners and medalists received cash prizes.
