Nomad Games: Kyrgyz athletes win three medals in three wrestling disciplines

Kyrgyz athletes opened the sixth World Nomad Games with three medals across three wrestling disciplines, taking one silver and two bronze awards in the over-100-kilogram category.

The competitions in Mongolian wrestling, göresh and kurash took place at the Gazprom sports and recreation complex in Cholpon-Ata. Fourteen athletes competed in Mongolian wrestling. Mongolia’s Anar Dorj won gold, Russia’s Monge Ertine Kuular took silver, and China’s Sur lige Sur lige and Kyrgyzstan’s Orozbek Ashirov shared the bronze medals.

Göresh drew competitors from 31 countries. Turkmenistan’s Annag urban Allaberdiev won the title, while Kyrgyzstan’s Asankeldi Nurkazym uulu finished second. Uzbekistan’s Iliosbek Mirzakmatov and Afghanistan’s Nader Sofizada placed third.

Athletes from 21 countries competed in kurash. Uzbekistan’s Numonjon Rajabov won gold, Iran’s Sadegh Azarang took silver, and Turkmenistan’s Kemal Kemalov joined Kyrgyzstan’s Tilek Kuralov among the bronze medalists.

The organizers awarded winners 100,000 soms each. Silver medalists received 80,000 soms, and bronze medalists received 50,000 soms.
