Nominating commission fails to agree on cutoff for comptroller candidates

Guatemala’s nominating commission moved ahead with eliminating candidates whose application files did not meet the stated requirements, then ran into a new obstacle: it could not agree on where to draw the cutoff for those still competing to become comptroller general.

The commissioners have already approved a scoring table for evaluating the applicants. The dispute now centers on how that table should determine which candidates remain eligible and which are removed from consideration.
