North Korea Rejects Joint Warning on IT Personnel as 'Slander'

North Korea has vehemently rejected a joint warning issued by 11 countries, including South Korea, the United States, and Japan, concerning its alleged illicit information technology (IT) personnel. Pyongyang characterized the warning as "groundless slander and defamation."

The statement from North Korea's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency, dismissed the warning as a "conspiracy" orchestrated by the U.S. and its allies to incite anti-Pyongyang sentiment. This response comes after the foreign ministries and police agencies of the U.S., Japan, the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and New Zealand issued a joint alert on July 31.

These 11 nations warned that North Korea is leveraging its skilled IT workforce to illegally procure funds for its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile development. The joint alert aimed to counter North Korea's alleged activities, which include deploying IT workers globally to generate revenue through fraudulent schemes and cybercrime.

The North Korean spokesperson accused the U.S. and its "stooge allies" of fabricating a "joint warning statement" to amplify perceived threats from North Korea's cyber activities. This latest exchange highlights the ongoing tensions and information warfare between North Korea and several Western nations regarding its weapons programs and cyber capabilities.
