Northern christian chairman cautions politicians against greed, manipulation

Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Northern Christian Association (formerly Northern CAN), has issued a strong caution to politicians, urging them to reject manipulation, greed, and selfish leadership. He implored public office holders to govern with a fear of God and serve as positive role models for Nigeria's youth.

The Bible says the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge, which implies that God expects us to fear Him. If we fear Him, then that means we are wise.

Hayab, who is also the Senior Pastor of Amazing Grace Baptist Church, delivered his remarks on Sunday following the dedication of his church's auditorium in Gonin Gora, Kaduna State. The event drew a diverse crowd of prominent Nigerians, including politicians, religious leaders, and traditional rulers. Speaking to journalists, Hayab emphasized the critical need for peaceful coexistence and religious harmony across the nation, urging Nigerians to embrace unity regardless of their ethnic, political, or religious backgrounds.

Hayab further charged political leaders to embody integrity and accountability. He warned that the negative influence of greed and manipulation in society is increasingly affecting younger Nigerians. He lamented that many young people now perceive manipulation as a successful career path due to the behavior of some leaders, stating, "Our young ones are not seeing enough good examples among us. They have seen us to be selfish, greedy and manipulative. They are thinking that when you manipulate things and get away with it, then you are a superstar."
