Norwegian royal expert: Crown Prince Haakon will be a different king

Norway mourns the passing of King Harald V, who died at the age of 89. Swedish royal expert Roger Lundgren echoed Taalesen's sentiment, noting that while public support for the monarchy has faced challenges in recent years due to scandals, trust in King Harald remained high. Lundgren described Harald as embodying the Norwegian spirit, enjoying skiing, hiking, hunting, and fishing, making him a very popular and relatable monarch.

Crown Prince Haakon faces a potentially challenging transition. His wife, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is still recovering from a lung transplant, raising questions about her capacity to fulfill her royal duties. Furthermore, the royal family has been embroiled in several controversies, including the legal issues surrounding Marius Borg Høiby, the "bonus prince," and Crown Princess Mette-Marit's past association with Jeffrey Epstein. Princess Märtha Louise also stepped down from her royal duties following criticism of her relationship with Durek Verrett.
