Novi Pazar Imposes Water Use Restrictions Amid Drought

In response to a prolonged dry spell and a significant drop in river levels, the City Council of Novi Pazar has enacted a decision to restrict the non-essential and irrational consumption of water from the city's water supply system. This measure aims to guarantee a stable and continuous water supply for the city's residents.

The newly implemented prohibitions cover a range of activities deemed wasteful. These include watering gardens, lawns, and green spaces; washing streets, sidewalks, yards, and building facades; filling or topping up private swimming pools; and washing motor vehicles and machinery, except at authorized car washes. Any other uncontrolled or unnecessary water wastage from the water network is also forbidden.

Oversight of the decision's enforcement will be carried out by the relevant inspection services and the municipal police. Individuals or entities found in violation of these water usage restrictions will face penalties as stipulated by the regulations. The local government has appealed to citizens to exercise responsibility and rationality in their water use, thereby contributing to the preservation of a stable water supply system and ensuring water is used primarily for essential living and hygiene needs.
