Novi Sad residents send aid packages and over half a million dinars to fire-affected areas

Residents of Novi Sad demonstrated significant solidarity this past weekend, collecting over half a million Serbian dinars and a substantial quantity of aid packages for regions devastated by fires. The initiative, organized by the Citizens' Assemblies of Novi Sad, saw locals donate money, food, and essential supplies at collection points throughout the city and in Veternik.

According to the Razglas news portal, the collected amount reached 501,590 dinars and 105 euros. These funds are earmarked for the purchase of crucial firefighting equipment. In addition to monetary donations, citizens contributed large quantities of water, electrolyte drinks, masks, gloves, wet wipes, paper towels, coffee, biscuits, snacks, and various other equipment and footwear.

A van carrying the donated items departed for Deliblatska Peščara shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday. The swift action and generosity of the Novi Sad residents highlight a strong community response to the ongoing crisis, providing much-needed support to those battling the fires.
