Novi Sad to offer extra MMR vaccination appointments on the next two Saturdays

Novi Sad’s child health service will open additional MMR vaccination appointments on the next two Saturdays because too few children have received the vaccine and an outbreak risk remains.

Parents can bring their children without an appointment to the Jovan Jovanović Zmaj clinic on September 5 and 12, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The health center urged families to bring children who have not received an MMR dose or who have not completed the two-dose schedule appropriate for their age.

The vaccine protects against measles, mumps and rubella, highly contagious diseases that can cause serious complications, especially in children. The health center described vaccination as the most effective way to protect children and the wider community.

The first MMR dose is given at 12 months, while the second dose is administered before children start school. Children who missed vaccination at the recommended age can receive a catch-up dose with a parent after a pediatric examination.
