Katsina United player Chinedu Ozor is currently in intensive care at Katsina General Hospital after a dramatic turn of events that saw him initially pronounced dead. Ozor collapsed during a pre-season match against Niger Tornadoes at the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-season Cup in Katsina.

When we rushed him to a nearby hospital, he was confirmed dead by a doctor. We collected police report and took him back to Katsina General Hospital where he was also said to be dead. They took his body to the morgue there. Later, the medical personnel informed us that he has been taken back to the ICU from the morgue when they noticed movement in his body.

A Niger Tornadoes player who participated in the match also shared his shock, calling the situation "heartbreaking" and expressing hope for a miracle.

Following Martins' death, the Nigeria Football Federation mandated that league venues must have adequate medical equipment and personnel before games can proceed, with match commissioners and host associations responsible for inspecting these facilities.
