NSCDC deploys 1,300 personnel for Edo LG poll

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Edo State Command has mobilized 1,300 personnel across the state's three senatorial districts to ensure security for the upcoming local government election. The poll is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026.

According to a statement from NSCDC spokesman Ogbebor Efosa, the command is fully prepared to protect lives, property, and critical national assets throughout the election period. State Commandant Akintayo Ayinla assured residents of the command's commitment to providing a secure environment for a peaceful electoral process.

Officials urged all political parties, candidates, supporters, and stakeholders to respect electoral laws, reject violence and malpractice, and conduct themselves peacefully. The NSCDC also pledged to collaborate with other security agencies to guarantee a free, fair, and credible election across Edo State. Voters were encouraged to participate in the civic exercise without fear, with assurances of comprehensive security measures in place.
