NUS Postgraduate Fair Focuses on Human Skills in the Age of AI

As artificial intelligence increasingly integrates into various professional fields, the National University of Singapore (NUS) is hosting its Postgraduate Fair to address growing concerns about the future of work. The fair, themed "Human in the Age of AI," aims to guide prospective students on how postgraduate studies can deepen expertise and strengthen critical thinking. This is particularly relevant as professionals grapple with job security in an AI-driven landscape, with a report indicating only 18 percent of Asia Pacific workers feel confident about their positions. The event, set for September 26, will open the NUS Lifelong Learning Festival and feature over 200 programs. Associate Professor Chai Kah Hin, dean of the School of Continuing and Lifelong Education, highlighted that employers now seek graduates who can collaborate with AI and orchestrate solutions. NUS programs are designed to provide hands-on experience, integrating AI into learning to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive alongside new technologies. PhD student Mikhyle Mat Nooh shared his experience using AI as a tool to test arguments and clarify concepts in his doctoral work, emphasizing that NUS has integrated AI into its curriculum to supplement understanding rather than replace critical thought. The fair offers a platform for individuals to explore how advanced education can prepare them for a dynamic workplace.
