Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang joins SK Group chairman for 'chimaek' gathering

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang continued his high-profile engagements in South Korea with a casual 'chimaek' (chicken and beer) gathering on Sunday evening with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and other SK executives. The meeting took place at a Kkanbu Chicken restaurant in Seoul's Samseong-dong, the same location where Huang had a similar gathering with Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chairman Chung Eui-sun in late October.

Huang, who arrived in South Korea on June 5, has been actively meeting with prominent figures in the country's business sector. This latest meeting with Chey Tae-won, just two days after their previous encounter at a Korean barbecue restaurant, highlights the deepening collaboration between Nvidia and the SK Group. SK Group is a key supplier of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips to Nvidia, essential components for artificial intelligence processors, and the two companies are also strengthening cooperation in areas such as AI data centers.

Arriving at the restaurant around 6:47 p.m. with his wife, Lori Huang, and daughter, Madison Huang, who is a senior director at Nvidia, Jensen Huang donned a Doosan Bears baseball uniform. The number 93 on the jersey represents the year Nvidia was founded. He greeted citizens before joining Chey Tae-won, who arrived about 10 minutes later. Also present were SK Hynix presidents Kwak No-jeong and Kim Joo-sun, and SK Telecom president Jeong Jae-heon, among others.

During the meal, Huang and Chey exchanged high-fives before sharing chicken and beer. The SK Group's role as a supplier of HBM chips and its expanding business collaborations with Nvidia underscore the strategic importance of these meetings for advancing AI technology and infrastructure.
