Nvidia reportedly forming PAC to boost policy influence

U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) chip behemoth Nvidia is reportedly set to establish a political action committee (PAC), a move that would significantly amplify its sway over American policy-making. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that this organization, slated to be named NVPAC, will be funded by Nvidia employees.

This strategic initiative places Nvidia among a growing cohort of major technology firms, including Meta Platforms and Alphabet's Google, that utilize PACs to channel financial support to political candidates whose platforms align with the companies' policy objectives. By contributing to campaigns, these tech giants aim to shape electoral outcomes and influence legislative agendas.

Nvidia executives have already demonstrated a commitment to political engagement through personal donations. Federal Election Commission records indicate that Nvidia executives Gavin Sherry and Sundeep Madra contributed $443,000 to the Republican National Committee (RNC) on June 24. Nvidia has declined to comment on the reports regarding the formation of NVPAC.

The establishment of NVPAC signifies Nvidia's intent to play a more direct role in the political landscape, leveraging employee contributions to bolster its policy advocacy efforts.
