NVL teams lock in marquees and coaches

The Nepal Volleyball League (NVL) is solidifying its structure for its debut season, with all six franchises announcing their marquee players and head coaches. This move signals a competitive start for Nepal's first men's franchise volleyball tournament, organized by the Kedia Group in association with the Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA).

The league has strategically distributed top national talent to ensure immediate parity. Harihajur Thapa, the national team skipper, will anchor the Sagarmatha Smashers, coached by FIVB Level III-certified Utsav Khadka. Madhesh Warriors have secured Rabin Nagarkoti as their marquee player, under the guidance of former national team coach Bharat Yadav.

Other franchises also boast strong leadership. Kathmandu Reds appointed Sunil Bohara as their marquee, led by FIVB Level I coach Nirpa Bahadur BK. Annapurna Spiker Kings feature Himal Sunari, coached by Ramesh KC, who has a history of success with Gandaki Province and Nepal's U-20 team. Karnali Shivraj, building on its women's team's legacy, signed Pahal Gahatraj, with Chandra Bahadur Kuwar as head coach. Khaptad Falcons have Dhiroj Kaji Basnet as their marquee, under the direction of national women's team assistant coach Rupesh Kumar Bista.
