NYSC awardees ready to replicate innovations in Edo

Ten Edo State indigenes, among the 210 recipients of the prestigious 2025 President’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Honours Award, have expressed their readiness to replicate the innovations that earned them national recognition within their home state. These awardees, who served across different states between 2020 and 2023, were honored at a ceremony in Abuja for their exceptional contributions during their service year.

Divine Omoruyi, speaking on behalf of the group, conveyed their eagerness to leverage their NYSC experiences for Edo State's development. "We are prepared to replicate our innovation in Edo. We are only waiting for the opportunity to leverage our NYSC experiences in the state. Hopefully, those innovations will help boost development in the state," Omoruyi stated.

Among the distinguished recipients is Divine Omoruyi, an Economics and Statistics graduate from the University of Benin. His innovative application of statistical analysis and digital technology significantly improved administrative processes during his service in Taraba State. Another awardee, Dr. Samuel Elaiho, an optometrist and also a graduate of the University of Benin, was recognized for his humanitarian medical outreach in Abia State, which positively impacted hundreds of residents. Elaiho's exceptional service had previously earned him the Abia State Best Corps Member Award in 2022.

Collectively, the ten Edo awardees represent a diverse range of excellence, excelling in public service, innovation, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and community development. Their achievements underscore the values promoted by the National Youth Service Corps and highlight the potential for young Nigerians to drive positive change.
