Oasis skip Venice press conference, keeping the drama alive

Liam and Noel Gallagher made it to Venice for the premiere of their Oasis comeback documentary, but not to the press conference that followed their photo call. The brothers appeared on the Lido on Saturday afternoon, posed for photographers and then skipped the media event, an unusual move for stars who have traveled to a premiere.

Director Will Lovelace offered little explanation. Asked why the musicians were absent, he said: "They were just here to have their photographs taken, so they are here." The no-show added a familiar dose of uncertainty around the Gallagher brothers, who are known for unpredictable public appearances even after recently repairing their relationship.

The documentary, titled "Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger," follows performances from the band’s 2025 comeback tour and includes behind-the-scenes footage. Dylan Southern serves as the second director, while Steven Knight wrote the screenplay. Knight is also working on the new James Bond film.

After 15 years of conflict, the brothers reconciled in 2024 and soon afterward embarked on a sold-out tour. The film gives them their first joint interview in front of a camera in more than two decades. It will be released in German cinemas on Sept. 9.
