Bangladesh President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck in Dhaka, discussing bilateral cooperation and regional initiatives. The meeting occurred during the Bhutanese king's brief stopover at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

During their discussion, both leaders expressed a keen interest in advancing transformative initiatives for mutual welfare, prosperity, and sustainable development. President Alamgir extended an invitation for the Bhutanese king and his family to visit Bangladesh on a state visit. In return, the Bhutanese king invited President Alamgir and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to visit Bhutan at their convenience.

The Bhutanese king specifically highlighted the Gelephu Mindfulness City project and sought Bangladesh's participation and cooperation. President Alamgir assured the king of Bangladesh's support for the initiative, emphasizing the shared goal of sustainable development. The leaders also acknowledged the historic ties between the two nations, with Bangladesh recalling Bhutan's recognition of its independence in 1971.
