A significant sum of money was allegedly stolen from donation and offering boxes at the Sri Sri Siddheswari Kali Temple in Jashore's Barabazar area early today. Temple authorities estimate that nearly 50,000 Bangladeshi Taka (approximately $425 USD) was taken.

According to the temple committee and local sources, a group of unidentified thieves gained access to the temple premises by breaking the lock on a rooftop staircase gate. Before accessing the boxes, the intruders reportedly vandalized the temple's CCTV cameras, presumably to prevent identification and destroy evidence of their actions.

Temple committee president Shyamal Ghosh filed a written complaint with the Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station. Police have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen funds. Witnesses and local residents have corroborated the incident, adding to the ongoing police inquiry.

Temple committee members estimated that the two donation boxes contained around Tk 30,000 to Tk 40,000, while the offering box held an additional Tk 5,000 to Tk 10,000.
