Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) are now stationed along the country's border in 11 districts. This deployment is intended to bolster border management and security operations, according to a recent press release. The initiative aims to strengthen national sovereignty and combat cross-border criminal activities. It follows a memorandum of understanding signed in 2025 between the Ansar-VDP and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). Ansar-VDP personnel are coordinating their duties with the BGB to align with national security objectives. The press release, issued by Md Ashikuzzaman, deputy director and public relations officer, confirmed the operational areas include Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Joypurhat, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Satkhira, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Sylhet, Jamalpur, and Khagrachhari. Furthermore, the Ansar force has placed additional members on standby. These personnel are ready to provide supplementary manpower and ensure a rapid response if the situation requires it.
