In a bizarre turn of events in Melandah upazila of Jamalpur, Bangladesh, the body of 65-year-old Halima Khatun was exhumed from her grave just about 12 hours after her burial. This unusual action was prompted by a family member's claim, reportedly conveyed by a "jinn," that the deceased was still alive.

According to Halima Khatun's son, Humayun Kabir, his mother passed away from age-related complications late Friday night and was buried the following morning. However, his daughter, who is reportedly suffering from mental health issues, insisted that a "jinn" had informed her that their mother had not actually died.

This claim led relatives to take the extraordinary step of exhuming the body. Medical professionals at the Melandah Upazila Health Complex and several private hospitals subsequently examined Halima Khatun and confirmed that she was indeed deceased. Following the confirmation of death, her body was reburied.

Melandah Police Station Officer-in-Charge ATM Mahmudul Haque stated that the police became aware of the incident through media reports. He added that no one has yet come forward to the police station to lodge any formal complaint or provide further information regarding the exhumation.
