Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, leading the nation's delegation, engaged in high-level bilateral discussions with counterparts from the United States, Russia, China, and Pakistan in Manila. These meetings took place on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Foreign Ministers' meeting. The discussions centered on enhancing economic cooperation, exploring trade and investment opportunities, and addressing matters of shared concern. Sources indicated that energy and connectivity were also key topics. The Bangladesh delegation emphasized that its foreign relations would be guided by a 'Bangladesh First' policy. During his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations. Rubio congratulated Momen on his election as president of the 81st UN General Assembly session. With Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, both sides agreed to deepen cooperation, particularly in the energy sector. Talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi covered Rohingya repatriation, transport corridors, investment, energy, economic cooperation, and advancing a community with a shared future. Momen also met with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The ARF provided a platform for dialogue on pressing regional and international challenges, aiming to promote peace, security, and development in the Asia-Pacific region.
