Prime Minister Tarique Rahman pledged that those responsible for killings during the July Mass Uprising will face justice through transparent, impartial, and credible trials. He announced that institutions will be named after victims of killings and enforced disappearances over the past 17 years, including those from the July Mass Uprising. Rahman made these remarks while addressing a discussion and inaugurating the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum. He stressed that the government believes justice is essential for the rule of law. The prime minister also stated that the museum should not serve as a platform for any single political narrative, asserting that the 2024 mass uprising belonged to the democratic people of Bangladesh. He drew a parallel between the 1971 Liberation War, which secured independence, and the 2024 uprising, which he described as a fight to protect that independence and the people's freedom. Rahman concluded by saying that just as the nation remembers the freedom fighters of 1971, it will remember those who sacrificed their lives in 2024 to safeguard the country and its people's freedom.
