The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has unveiled a budget of Tk 4,527.74 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year, with a strong emphasis on public health and infrastructure. Dengue control, addressing waterlogging issues, and rehabilitating damaged roads are identified as top priorities for the upcoming fiscal period.

DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan presented the budget, which sets a revenue income target of Tk 2,531.72 crore, representing about 56% of the total projected income. Notably, the DNCC's available funds have decreased from Tk 850 crore in the previous fiscal year to Tk 660.44 crore for the current one.

Development projects will receive the largest portion of the budget, accounting for approximately 67%, or Tk 3,015.49 crore. Road and traffic infrastructure development is slated to receive the most significant allocation within this, around Tk 1,366.50 crore, which is about 30% of the total budget and over 45% of the development allocation. Urban waste management follows with Tk 511.41 crore, approximately 11% of the total budget.

For mosquito control, Tk 145 crore has been earmarked for activities, constituting 23% of the total revenue expenditure. An additional Tk 208.85 crore is allocated for mosquito control and public health, making up about 4.5% of the overall budget. Salaries and employee remuneration will account for Tk 294.36 crore.

The DNCC plans to generate revenue through various taxes, including holding tax, sanitation fees, and property transfer taxes. The budget aligns with Prime Minister's "Clean Dhaka, Green Dhaka" vision and includes plans for modernizing drainage systems, managing street vendors, renovating bus terminals, restoring canals, and expanding urban greening programs.
