The Daily Star has solidified its position as a leading digital news organization in South Asia by securing two honors at the WAN-IFRA Digital Media Awards 2026. The newspaper's impactful investigative video report, "Anatomy of BGB Shootings in Rampura," earned a gold award in the "Best Use of Video" category. This investigation, a collaboration with Tech Global Institute, meticulously reconstructed state-sanctioned killings in a Dhaka neighborhood on July 19, 2024. It utilized over 200 photos and videos, along with digital pattern analysis, weapon identification, and chronolocation techniques to map the movements of state forces. Complementing this achievement, Keeron, The Daily Star's platform focused on EdTech and upskilling, was awarded a silver medal in the Most Innovative Digital Product category. The WAN-IFRA awards, organized by the World Association of News Publishers, celebrate excellence in digital journalism, product innovation, audience engagement, and newsroom transformation, drawing entries from news organizations worldwide.
