Google has launched Android 17, its latest mobile operating system update, beginning the rollout on June 16, 2026, primarily for a range of Pixel devices. For larger screens, including foldables, these bubbles consolidate into a dedicated bar for easy switching and resizing.

Another notable addition is "Screen Reactions," a tool that enables users to record their phone screen and front-facing camera simultaneously. This feature simplifies the creation of reaction videos by allowing users to overlay their commentary onto content without needing complex setups. "Screen Reactions" will be available on Pixel devices this summer.

Android 17 also caters to gamers with a new foldable gaming mode that splits the screen into a game view and a gamepad panel, optimizing the experience on foldable phones. Security and privacy have been tightened with new controls, such as granting temporary location access to apps and allowing users to share specific contacts instead of their entire address book. An enhanced "Find Hub" feature will allow missing phones to be locked using biometrics, and Live Threat Detection has been strengthened to block more suspicious apps and scams.
